Youth Basketball Offensive Plays

Youth Basketball Offensive Plays
Coaching — How many children age basketball coach at 5 and 6 year / girls?
Ok .. I have been nominated for Bball coach for 5 and 6 years. I need help. I played in HS and college and 5th grade girls Bball coach. However, I do not know where to start coaching 5 and 6 years of age. I had my first practice last night and I basically had to do some dribbling and shooting drills. How do you teach these young children the difference between playing offense and defense? The older kids that the coach has a pretty good idea of the game, so I never had to teach a student anything. Any assistance of any coaches out there especially in the youth basketball would be much appreciated. I also fear I may disappoint a few parents who were trained his son by a woman. I really wanted my daughter to have a different coach, because he is very shy and I wanted to do a sport with another person to get her out of her shell … Also .. some offensive and defensive exercises would be great. Mines pretty boring and I'd love to have some know them. Thanks in advance!
My advice nothing would keep it very simple to complicated. Now we just need to learn the game way too complicated may confuse them. For offense you do some exercises tray. A line that passes in practice all happens, some exercise recovery, and some dribbling drills. For the defense probably only taught posture and moving their feet. Yet it is just easier and more fun, young children who just want to play the game. Just teach them what it means play together on a computer and the basics of the game and you should be fine. For extra exercises check out the Pete Maravich basketball gun has some great and fun drills you may find useful. Good Luck
