Nikon D40 and sports photography

I am buying a Nikon D40 and am thinking about shooting football games at night. (And, as progress the year, also volleyball and basketball shooting and other outdoor sports as well …) I'm looking for a recommendation that the lens I should purchase that would more appropriate for these situations. I am not rich, so I'm looking for a lens at a reasonable price that I can help achieve a majority. Any suggestions? Please, and thanks!

You can get the Nikon film targets that are compatible with Nikon digital camera much less in the price – although there are some sacrifices / amenities compared to one made for digital television. A true photographer can work with the older lens as that with the new.
