I need to improve my time significantly 5k XC? How do I do this?

I am a sophomore in High School and year i it usually receives in the 19s, but my PR is 18:49. Next year, my goal is to 17:30, preferably 17:00 to 17:15. I know I have to work very hard and I am willing to do so. The thing is, this year, essentially put in place during the summer until the last two weeks, but next year I have planned in the functioning of the entire summer because I know that I will be vital for the team and probably the first runner if all goes accordingly. Also last year during the winter I basketball, but this year I have thought of doing indoor track so you can focus on my career and improve my times. In addition, during outdoor track just ran 400 and 100, but this year I want to do and distance. Therefore, I am totally committed to my career and want to do well so bad. What should I do to reach my goal? What should be my summer time is it? I'll do almost anything, but do not want to take stupid and injure myself. Thanks to all who will help!

It took me three weeks of vacation this summer and my coach always tells me that made me go back this season. I do not think not train this summer will u back too. Here are some things u can do to help drop time or quickly: 1) aggressivly race is a competitive sport so do not be afraid to cut people and get inside around 2) If you do not have and get career peak, this should take 10-15 seconds of your time effortlessly 3) accept the pain and be ready. It will hurt at the end but not the reverse 4) For races important to know beforehand Couse I can not tell me how many times I have to go the wrong way:) 5) This game is very mental and corny as it sounds believe me your good luck and have a great season!
