I have a basketball outdoors that is portable plastic base filled with water or sand. I live in North Carolina so it gets very cold in the winter from December to February. I wondered what he should do with respect to the base of the goal, for now is filled with water. Should I remove the water or will it be okay if it freezes? Anyone have one of these goals, who live in colder climates? What to do with yours?

Yes, I definitely want to do it with sand. On one side the water can freeze, secondly, is not as stable and can leak. I live in North Carolina also is a pain to fill with sand, but if you do once, you should not have to worry about him anymore.
